While still in beta development, the iKnow! platform is very innovative, combining elements of social community with an intuitive learning interface.

Currently used primarily for language learning (Japanese to English and vice versa), the information is structured as a set of items (words and sentences) that belong to one or more lists (groups of words and sentences pertaining to the same topic) which in turn belong to one or more courses (groups of lists that pertain to a larger curriculum).

I’m currently learning basic Japanese and find the teaching style particularly helpful, in the initial stages you are shown words, and sentences, and every few words or sentences you are tested on the previous words and sentences, really helps toward cementing short term knowledge in the brain.

Props to my old pal Simon Dennett for working on this and bringing it to fruition.

Thanks for the write up Chris, glad to see you are checking out the site. If you have any suggestions let me know and we’ll put them into the mix.

We have just released hiragana and katakana so you can learn the basic japanese phonetic writing scripts with iKnow! now.
